Choose the visit

# Choose the assessment, not the room’s look

A local room can make it easier to talk. Still ask who makes the treatment decision and what supports it.

## Ask who will decide on treatment

Get the name of the person assessing you before the visit. Ask whether that person will explain the options, write the plan and handle follow-up questions.

A trained Arizona medical assistant may give a shot under direct supervision by certain licensed health professionals. Arizona law checked October 3, 2026.

The medical assistant does not decide what health problem you have or design your treatment. Arizona law checked October 3, 2026.

## The building and the person differ

For many Arizona health professionals, a private office does not require its own separate licence. Some do, such as certain urgent-care offices or places where patients stay overnight. Arizona law checked October 3, 2026.

An office missing from the state’s list of licensed care buildings may still be operating legally. Arizona law and state pages checked October 3, 2026.

Ask the Health Department whether that kind of office needs a facility licence. Separately, check the licence of the person who will assess you.

## Make the visit useful before any treatment

- What problem are we trying to address?

- Why this medicine rather than another option?

- Can I take the plan home to read?

- Who handles questions after the visit?

Bring a written list if it helps you stay on track. Ask for unfamiliar words to be explained as they come up.

## Read the source for this question

- [Arizona: medical-assistant scope](https://www.azleg.gov/ars/32/01456.htm)

Useful when the person giving an injection differs from the person deciding on it.

- [Arizona: which offices need an extra licence](https://www.azleg.gov/ars/36/00402.htm)

Read which kinds of offices need the extra licence. Ask the Health Department if the office type is unclear.

- [Arizona: care-building records](https://www.azdhs.gov/licensing/index.php)

For the office’s records. Check the health professional’s licence separately.

This is a guide beside your Queen Creek care questions; it has neither a clinic desk nor medicine to sell.
