# An online visit needs a real assessment

Telehealth is care from a distance. The screen is the setting, not the medical decision.

## Talk about the concern before the product

Write your concern in your own words. Bring the medicine list and questions you want discussed. Ask how to raise another question after the visit.

The health professional must decide whether an online visit can meet your needs. That decision includes your symptoms, your health history and whether hands-on care is needed. Arizona law checked October 3, 2026.

## Remote prescribing is possible, with conditions

Arizona allows some medicine orders after an online examination. The health professional must still carry out an examination suited to your health needs and obey the rules for that medicine. Arizona law checked October 3, 2026.

Ask: “Can you examine me properly online? Does this medicine require a different kind of examination? Would I need a test or a visit in person?”

## Agree to the visit with a clear explanation

Before online care, Arizona usually requires you to agree after the care is explained. This is called informed consent. Your normal privacy rights still apply. Arizona law checked October 3, 2026.

Ask about the visit method, how records are handled and how to receive the plan in writing.

## Be wary of a menu without a conversation

The group representing state medical boards nationwide says a treatment-menu choice alone cannot justify a medicine order. A health professional must properly assess you. Guidance checked September 26, 2026.

This is guidance for state boards; each state sets its own rules. Ask how the health professional handles follow-up and how to raise questions of your own.
